Nederland's Oromo dictionary workshop and editing a panel discussion partly by participation of City Antwerp Date 22/03/2011 Oromo Parliamentarians Council call for Oromo-Nederland’s speaking to Panel discussions. The Oromo Parliamentarian Council, an organization committed for democracy and human right of the Oromo people in and outside of Oromiya; has been trying hard to address a lot of interrelated problems including the language and culture of the Oromo people. Accordingly, with a firm belief that our language needs to be translated to as many languages as possible; we have started the Oromo-Nederland dictionary two years ago. Currently we are progressing very well to publish a mini Oromo-Nederland dictionary ranging from 10,000 to 30,000 practical words for everyday life and to suit the interest of tourists from Dutch speaking countries visiting Oromia or anyone interested in Oromo language. We hope this will lay a very first practical foundation for more research and works to continue with regards to the Oromo-Nederland language and cultural project. This mini dictionary is intended to have a centralized and all in on words from all zones of Oromia, hence requires the effort of each and every Oromo from different directions of Oromia. What is more, to enhance the integration program and support the noble cause of helping the new arrives in Belgium, we are preparing a brochure entitled “Integration Program for Oromo Speaking” in Dutch and Afan Oromo languages. These efforts will not only ease life for the new comers but also help the second Oromo generations born and living in Belgium and The Netherlands to learn their language and understand their culture in a very short period of time. Therefore your effort in sending us the everyday words, comments and corrections are very welcome. To discuss on this and other matters, we have organized a panel discussion on the 29th of April 2009 in Patriottenstraat 62, 2600 Antwerpen.
